Error
The Upgrade Geodatabase button does not grey out after installing the ArcGIS 10.2.1 for Desktop Spatial Reference Consistency Patch and upgrading the geodatabase.

After dropping the spatial index, the feature class can be created successfully and the Upgrade Geodatabase button is unavailable.
