Error Message

When attempting to edit the field value of a feature class, the following error message is returned in the Attributes pane:

Value doesn't fall within Domain: <domain name>
Field <field name> attribute value  is not member of coded value domain <domain name>.

Cause

This issue occurs when the field attribute value is part of the attribute domain, but the field value is blank or a value that does not constitute the domain value assigned.

Solution or Workaround

To resolve the error, assign a domain value for the field.

  1. Open the project with the feature layer in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. In the Contents pane, right-click the feature layer and select Attribute Table.

  1. In the field with the assigned attribute domains, double-click a cell and select the domain value from the drop-down list.

  2. On the Edit tab, in the Manage Edits group, click Save to save the changes.
