Acronym for Global Navigation Satellite System. Global geopositioning satellite constellations, spread between several orbital planes, that are used for positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) relative to objects on the earth's surface. The GNSS currently includes: China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, the European Union's Galileo, Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), and the United States's Global Positioning System (GPS).
