Cause

The following are known causes for this issue:

  • The raster dataset is not saved in the local disk (C:).
  • The file path or the filename of the raster dataset does not adhere to the ArcGIS filename restrictions. Refer to ArcMap: Name restrictions for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the options below to resolve the issue.

Save the raster dataset in the local disk (C:)

In ArcMap

  1. Move or save the desired raster dataset to a folder in the local disk (C:).
  2. Launch ArcMap.
  3. In the Catalog pane, right-click Folder Connections, and select Connect To Folder.
Clicking Connect To Folder by right-clicking Folder Connection in the Catalog window for connecting to and working with GIS information in a workspace folder.
  1. In the Connect To Folder window, select the new folder location of the raster dataset in Step 1, and click OK.

In ArcGIS Pro

  1. Move or save the desired raster dataset to a folder in the local disk (C:).
  2. Launch ArcGIS Pro.
  3. In the Catalog pane, use one of the options stated in Step 1 of ArcGIS Pro: Add a folder to the project to add a folder connection.
Connect to folders on a local or network computer that provide the items needed to complete and archive a project.
Note:
Alternatively, drag the folder from Windows File Explorer, and drop it in the Catalog pane in ArcGIS Pro.
Drag and drop the folder in the Content pane in ArcGIS Pro to establish a folder connection.
  1. In the Add Folder Connection window, select the new folder location of the raster dataset in Step 1, and click OK.

Ensure the file path or filename of the raster dataset adheres to the name restrictions

Remove any space or special character from the file path or filename of the raster dataset. Refer to ArcMap: Name restrictions for more information.
