ArcGIS Field Maps: Geodatabase item not found

Last Published: August 22, 2024

Error Message

Attempting to add a related record to a newly created feature in the ArcGIS Field Maps mobile app fails and returns the following error message:

Error:
Geodatabase item not found.
The error message.

Cause

The relationship class is created using the ObjectID field as both the primary key and foreign key. While the ObjectID value remains consistent for an item as long as it stays in its original class, this consistency is disrupted when a feature is split. In such cases, the original feature retains the ObjectID, but the newly created feature is assigned a different ObjectID. As a result, using the ObjectID field as the primary key breaks relationships that are dependent on ObjectID, causing the specific item not to be found. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Primary and foreign keys for more information.

Solution or Workaround

In ArcGIS Pro, create a new relationship class between the feature class and the related table using a field other than the ObjectID field, such as GlobalID, as the primary and foreign key. For instructions, refer to ArcGIS Pro: Create a simple relationship class.
