polygon feature
URL copiedShare URL
[geometry]
A map feature that bounds an area at a given scale, such as a country on a world map or a district on a city map.
[spatial analysis]
A digital map feature that represents a place with area at a given scale. A polygon feature may have one or many parts, although it references one set of attributes. For example, an airport footprint is typically a single polygon feature, but it may have multiple buildings—such as a parking lot or multiple terminals—making it a multipart polygon feature with discontinuous parts; or it may have on-site restaurants or shopping, making it a multipart polygon feature with nested parts.
