URL copied Share URL
  1. [data management] A method of statistical data classification that partitions numeric data into classes, or class intervals, using an algorithm that minimizes per class average deviation from its mean and maximizes per class deviation from the means of all other classes. In other words, Jenks' optimization seeks to reduce variance within a group and maximize the variance between groups. Named for U.S. cartographer and geographer George Frederick Jenks (1916–1996).
