  1. [analysis/geoprocessing] A GIS operation that is used to manipulate an input spatial dataset and return the result as an output dataset. Common examples of geoprocessing operations include the creation of a mosaic dataset, image enhancements, geographic feature overlays, topology processing, calculation of variables (such as the extent and strength of a hurricane over time and distance), and data analysis/conversion.
