Bookmarks created in ArcMap do not import to a hosted web map in ArcGIS Online

Description

Bookmarks created in a map document in ArcMap fail to display when the map is published in ArcGIS Online as a hosted web map.

Cause

This is a known limit.

Bookmarks are created in a map document and stored directly in the map document JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), and are unique to a particular map document. They cannot be moved independently, and are not preserved in the web map.

Solution or Workaround

Re-create the bookmarks in the ArcGIS Online web map after the map is published.
