BUG

Features with zero shape length are not assigned build err type 13: Zero Length Geometry

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When a network is built from feature classes that contain features with a zero shape length, they are not assigned the proper error type in the BUILDERR table, they are designated as EmptyGeometry, 10 instead of ZeroLengthGeometry, 13.

Cause

The invalid feature is reported incorrectly, and since the impact to the geometric network is low, it can be removed.

Workaround

To remove the feature from the network, follow the steps in the ArcGIS Desktop online help.

Depending on the version of ArcGIS, the help file may be in a different location:

For ArcGIS 8.3 and earlier:
Follow the steps for 'Repairing features with an empty geometry or zero length' outlined in the ArcGIS Desktop Help under Geodatabases > Editing your geodatabase.

For ArcGIS 9.0 and later:
Follow the steps for 'Repairing features with an empty geometry or zero length' outlined in the ArcGIS Desktop Help under Editing in ArcMap > Editing geometric networks.
