Summary

This patch addresses an issue where certain custom geoprocessing models containing a Python script tool fail to run when published as a web tool (geoprocessing service).



Description

EsriĀ® announces the ArcGIS (Desktop, Engine, Server) 10.6.1 Published Script Tools Patch. This patch addresses an issue where published web tools (geoprocessing services) fail with an error when they contain a geoprocessing model that includes a Python script tool that had been added to the "System Toolboxes". It deals specifically with the issue listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.

 

Issues Addressed with this patch

  • BUG-000117458 - Publishing model that contains a custom tool, added to the system toolbox, returns "Tool is invalid" when the GPService is consumed.

 

Installing this patch on Windows

Installation Steps:

ArcGIS Desktop, Engine, or Server 10.6.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

Note: This patch must be installed in both ArcGIS Server and in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine or ArcGIS 64-bit Background.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
  3. Double-click ArcGIS-1061-<Product>-PST-Patch.msp to start the setup process.

    NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:

    msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-1061-<Product>-PST-Patch.msp

 

Installing this patch on Linux

Installation Steps:

Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.

ArcGIS Server 10.6.1 must be installed before installing this patch.

Note: This patch must be installed in both ArcGIS Server and in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine or ArcGIS 64-bit Background.

  1. Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

  2. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS.
  3. Extract the specified tar file by typing:

    % tar -xvf ArcGIS-1061-S-PST-Patch-lx.tar
  4. Start the installation by typing:

    % ./applypatch

    This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.

April 11, 2019: The Linux download has been replaced with a B version to address the following issue:

ArcGIS Server patchnotification tool erroneously claims patch "ArcGIS (Desktop, Engine, Server) 10.6.1 Published Script Tools Patch, QFE_ID: DTES-1061-P-162" still needs to be installed even after that patch has been successfully installed.

How to identify which ArcGIS products are installed
