Summary
Description
Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.4.1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) Raster Patch 2. This patch addresses some quality issues in working with raster data and adds support for Sentinel-2 satellite data and Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) L3 scientific data. It also includes backward compatibility support for mosaic dataset created in ArcGIS 10.5. It deals specifically with the issue listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.
Issues Addressed with this patch
- BUG-000101468 - The mosaic datasets created using ArcGIS for Server 10.5 with binary storage fail to open in prior releases.
- BUG-000097672 - Some GRIB2 data failed to add to mosaic dataset if the input is set as folder.
- BUG-000097671 - Add support for Sentinel 2 data.
- BUG-000096567 - Image service pointing to a Compressed File geodatabase does not release memory.
- BUG-000095958 - Time values are read incorrectly when adding to mosaic dataset if netCDF data are defined with Julian calendar.
- BUG-000095633 - Extent inconsistency warning shows when a mosaic dataset or an image service created from globe data added to ArcMap.
- BUG-000095615 - When adding Soil moisture Active Passive (SMAP) L3 and L4 HDF5 data, ArcMap returns an unexpected warning message.
- BUG-000094700 - Selecting the Symbology tab in Layer Properties for a raster catalog gives the error "Attempted an unsupported operation" in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.4.
- BUG-000093223 - Setting a JPEG2000 compression with a quality of 100 when copying a raster dataset within or into an ArcSDE geodatabase using the Copy Raster geoprocessing tool or the Export Raster Data dialog box from ArcMap results in poor image quality.
- BUG-000092416 - Building pyramids using JP2 compression after loading multiple JP2 images into a file geodatabase raster leads to blurry pyramids.
- BUG-000091154 - Edit Raster Function and Set Mosaic Dataset Properties are incorrectly available with an ArcGIS for Desktop Basic license.
Installing this patch on Windows
Installation Steps:
ArcGIS 10.4.1 for Desktop, Engine or Server must be installed before installing this patch.
- Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
- Double-click ArcGIS-1041-<Product>-R2-Patch.msp to start the setup process.
NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-1041-<Product>-R2-Patch.msp
Installing this patch on Linux
Installation Steps:
Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.
ArcGIS 10.4.1 for Engine or Server must be installed before installing this patch.
- Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.

- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS.
- Extract the specified tar file by typing:
% tar -xvf ArcGIS-1041-<Product>-R2-Patch-lx.tar
- Start the installation by typing:
% ./applypatch
This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.
