Unable to validate ArcGIS Data Store after configuring it

Description

Attempting to validate ArcGIS Data Store after successfully configuring it returns the following error message:

Error: 
The connection property set was missing a required property or the property value was unrecognized. Bad login user.

Cause

ArcGIS Data Store is configured using a different account than ArcGIS Server.

Solution or Workaround

Choose either one of the methods below to resolve.

Provide permissions to the ArcGIS Server account for the DataStore and arcgisdatastore folders.

The default locations are in the following directories:

• The DataStore folder:

C:\Program Files\ArcGIS

• The arcgisdatastore folder:

C:\

Follow these steps to provide permission for the folders:

1. Navigate to the DataStore and arcgisdatastore directories.
2. Right-click the folder and click Properties.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Select the ArcGIS Server account from the Group or user names list.
5. Click Edit... .
6. Check the Allow option for Full control.
7. Click OK.

Reinstall and reconfigure ArcGIS Data Store using the ArcGIS Server account credentials.

1. Uninstall ArcGIS Data Store from the machine.
2. Navigate to the following folder location on the machine:

C:\Program Files\ArcGIS

3. Delete or rename the DataStore folder.
4. Reinstall ArcGIS Data Store on the machine.
5. Configure ArcGIS Data Store with the same account credential used when configuring ArcGIS Server. Refer to ArcGIS Enterprise: Create a data store for more information.
6. Validate the data store. Refer to ArcGIS Enterprise: ArcGIS Data Store REST commands – Validate the data store for more information.
