Error Message

When an organization administrator or item owner attempts to view a story map, the following error message is returned:

Cause

• The organization member’s user type has insufficient privileges to access ArcGIS StoryMaps.
• The Essential Apps add-on license is not assigned to the organization member.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following options to resolve the issue.

Note:
Only organization administrators can perform the following workflows.

Update the member’s user type with privilege to access ArcGIS StoryMaps

Change the member’s user type to Creator. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Change user types for instructions and more information.

Assign the Essential Apps add-on license to the member

By default, the Essential Apps Bundle is not included in the Insights Analyst, Advanced, or Standard user type. To access ArcGIS StoryMaps, organization administrators or members with licensing privileges must manually assign the Essential Apps add-on license to the member. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Configure add-on licenses for multiple products for instructions and more information.

Share the story map publicly

Share the story map publicly to enable the member to view it in ArcGIS StoryMaps. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Share items with everyone for instructions and more information.
