Also known as texture analysis. In imagery, a series of metrics resulting from image processing techniques used to characterize and identify an area of interest. Texture analysis defines a pattern based on variability and other statistical measures across an object or feature. These are used in traditional pattern recognition techniques or machine learning algorithms, including convolutional neural networks (CNN).
