  1. [remote sensing] In remote sensing, a sample of sensed electromagnetic energy traceable to a single physical cell in a sensor whose ground sample distance is defined by the point spread function of the optical system and ground location. A pixel in such an image comes directly from the sensor with only sensor corrections applied.
