  1. [geocoding] In geocoding, metadata containing an object's significant location information, such as street address or latitude-longitude coordinates. Reference data consists of the spatial representation of the data and its related attribute table.
  2. [photogrammetry] In imagery, a baseline dataset used to compare against processed data to assess the accuracy of results. Typically used for geopositional or feature classification accuracy; verifiable with ground surveying.
