Also known by the acronym NIR. A band of the electromagnetic spectrum that has wavelengths from 0.75 to 1.4 μm, varying slightly based on the technology and application. Near infrared is reflected light and is used in remote sensing analysis of vegetation (high reflectivity) and in detecting water bodies (high absorption).
