map image layer

  1. [graphics (computing)] A layer composed of map images that is generated dynamically by a server or from tiles during a map visualization or a feature query. Map image layers reference workspaces or datasets that are registered with a federated server. A map image layer can be distinguished from a tile layer, which is pregenerated from raster image or vector tiles.
