  1. [organizational issues] Often abbreviated to DGIWG. A group established in 1983 to develop standards for spatial data exchange among nations participating in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The goals of the group are interoperability and burden sharing among nations, and its membership has recently expanded beyond NATO nations. While DGIWG is not an official NATO body, its work on standards has been recognized by the NATO Geographic Conference (NGC).
