  1. [data analysis] In a GIS, comparing attributes in different coverages or map layers according to location.
  2. [statistics] A method for showing the relationship between two or more data characteristics by repeating each of the categories of one variable for each category of the other variables. For example, a cross tabulation of census data might show households by number of occupants by income.
