A unit of United States census geography that is composed of one or more census blocks and is a subdivision of a census tract. A block group generally contains 600-3,000 residents. A block group may be categorized as part of a tribal region (a tribal block group). Unlike a tribal block group, a census block group will not cross census tract, county, or state boundaries.
