URL copied Share URL
  1. [remote sensing] A wavelength range in the spectrum of reflected or radiated electromagnetic (EM) energy to which a remote sensor is sensitive. Red, green, and blue are spectral bands used by a digital camera; the red band, for example, collects light from approximately 625-740 nanometers. Once a sensor collects data from a spectral band, it stores the data in a file. The file or portion of the file devoted to that range is also commonly referred to as a band. Media\band.gif
