PROBLEM

On Windows 11 25H2 operating systems, Setup.exe is not running the Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable if the minimum required version is not already installed

Last Published: December 1, 2025

Description

While running Setup.exe, an error message similar to the following is displayed:

ArcGIS Server 11.5 requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) 14.42.3433 or greater to proceed. To download and install this redistributable please contact your system administrator.

This issue affects the following products:

  • ArcGIS Cloud Builder for Amazon Web Services 11.4 and 11.5
  • ArcGIS Data Store 11.4 and 11.5
  • ArcGIS Mission Server 11.4 and 11.5
  • ArcGIS Notebook Server 11.4 and 11.5
  • Portal for ArcGIS 11.4 and 11.5
  • ArcGIS Server 11.4 and 11.5

  • ArcGIS Insights Desktop 2024.2
  • ArcGIS Survey123 versions 3.21.0, 3.23.1
  • ArcGIS License Manager 2025.0

Cause

After the Windows 11 25H2 update, the setup.exe isn’t correctly identifying the latest OS as a supported operating system.

Solution or Workaround

The minimum required Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable can be run manually from the SetupFiles\Support\VCREDIST folder.

  1. Download and extract the executable from My Esri. The redistributable files can be found in the user’s Documents folder. For example:
C:\Users\<userprofile>\Documents\...\SetupFiles\Support\VCREDIST
  1. When this is installed, run the product's setup.exe again.
