HOW TO

Vertically center-align table frame headers in an ArcGIS Pro layout

Last Published: March 26, 2025

Summary

In ArcGIS Pro, table frames dynamically display feature attributes within a layout. By default, when table frame fields are wrapped, the headers may appear off-center, resulting in uneven spacing and an unbalanced appearance. In certain scenarios, center-aligning the table frame header is necessary to improve readability, meet standard formatting requirements, or optimize space utilization.

Although a vertical alignment option is available in the Position properties, it does not apply to table frame headers because the alignment is constrained by the space defined within an element. In this article, the Table Frame element is used as an example. However, vertical alignment can be manually adjusted using the Offset Y option in the Position property. This article provides the workflow for vertically center-aligning table frame headers using the Offset Y option in an ArcGIS Pro layout.

This workflow uses a table frame with uneven spacing as an example, as shown below.

Procedure

  1. Open the layout page with the table frame in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Specify the table frame heading text offset value.
    1. In the Contents pane, select the desired heading field. In this example, the NAME field is selected.
    2. In the Element pane, click the drop-down arrow and select Heading text.
The Element pane in ArcGIS Pro
  1. On the General The General icon tab, expand Position.
  2. Under Position, specify the value for Offset Y. Set a negative value to center-align the table frame header. The number varies based on the positioning. In the following example, -10 pt is set as the value.

  1. Click Apply or toggle the Auto Apply option on.
