DEPRECATION
On March 1, 2024, ArcGIS Desktop (including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, ArcReader, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcMap-based extensions) entered Mature Support. Software updates, patches, and hot fixes are no longer available. The product was officially deprecated on July 1, 2024, and will be retired March 1, 2026.
To provide our users with access to ArcGIS apps, capabilities, and content across desktop, web, and mobile, we are transitioning ArcGIS Desktop customers to user types.
Customers with ArcGIS Desktop subscription licenses were sent two emails and additional notifications 90 days before, 30 days before, and on their subscription end date. Subscription renewals are for user types that give access to the equivalent ArcGIS Pro license level (Basic, Standard, or Advanced) in addition to ArcGIS capabilities, apps, and content. Access to ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, and ArcMap-based extensions will end when the ArcGIS Desktop subscription expires.
Beginning December 1, 2025, customers with ArcGIS Desktop perpetual licenses will automatically receive renewal quotes for user types that include the equivalent ArcGIS Pro license level (Basic, Standard, or Advanced) in addition to ArcGIS capabilities, apps, and content. ArcGIS Desktop maintenance will no longer be quoted.
ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, ArcReader, ArcGIS Engine (ArcObjects) and ArcMap-based extensions are included in this retirement notice. While the ArcMap-based extensions will be retired with ArcGIS Desktop, the following extensions will continue to be available for ArcGIS Pro:
The following ArcGIS Desktop extensions are not available as extensions for ArcGIS Pro since their functionality has been incorporated into ArcGIS Pro. They have separate deprecation notices and will be retired on the same timeline as ArcGIS Desktop:
ArcGIS Desktop perpetual license holders can continue using the included applications while they transition to user types. However, customers with subscription licenses should note that software access will cease when the subscription expires. We recommend that customers move their desktop GIS workflows to ArcGIS Pro or other ArcGIS apps included with user types before ArcGIS Desktop is retired on March 1, 2026. Refer to the migration guide and associated user type decision tree.
