DEPRECATION

ArcGIS Schematics

Last Published: June 27, 2024

Description

ArcGIS Schematics is being deprecated. It is an extension to ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) and ArcGIS Server, and is not available as an extension for ArcGIS Pro. It is no longer required because the Network Diagram functionality included with ArcGIS Utility Network and Trace Network replaces it.

Since ArcMap is in mature support and will be retired on March 1, 2026, the ArcGIS Schematics extension is being deprecated as a result and has a stop quote date of July 1, 2024, in alignment with ArcMap.

Recommendation

ArcGIS Schematics customers must migrate to ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Utility Network or ArcGIS Trace Network. The Network Diagrams capability is a core functionality of ArcGIS Utility Network and ArcGIS Trace Network and replaces the ArcGIS Schematics extension for creating a logical view of networks.

For customers without a network dataset, ArcGIS Knowledge may be the best path forward to build a logical representation of their dataset.

Esri recommends generating network diagrams. Refer to Related Information for more details on migrating to ArcGIS Utility Network or ArcGIS Trace Network and using Network Diagrams.
