  1. [coordinate systems, geodesy] Acronym for well-known ID. A unique number used to identify a predefined coordinate reference system or spatial reference system within a GIS. Each WKID defines the coordinate system with all parameters needed to represent spatial data. The source, origin, or authority of the number is either Esri or the former European Petroleum Survey Group (EPSG). Also known as a spatial reference ID (SRID).
