PROBLEM

Unable to calculate the panel reflectance factor for radiometric calibration in ArcGIS Drone2Map

Last Published: October 4, 2023

Description

In ArcGIS Drone2Map, the calibration of multispectral imagery bands involves the utilization of calibration panels to mitigate atmospheric effects, including aerosol content, reflection, diffusion, absorption of light, and sun angle. Refer to ArcGIS Drone2Map: Radiometric Calibration for more information. In some cases, when calculating the panel reflectance factor using the Radiometric Calibration function, the reflectance value fails to compute.

Failed to compute panel reflectance factor

Cause

This behavior is caused by the Windows region format. The characters used by ArcGIS Drone2Map are affected when the region format is changed.

Solution or Workaround

To properly calculate the panel reflectance factor, set the Windows region format to match the default Microsoft Windows language.

  1. In Microsoft Windows, open the Control Panel and select the Region setting.
The Control Panel window
  1. In the Region dialog box, for Format, select a language format. In this example, English (United States) is used as the language format.
  2. Click OK.
The Region dialog box
Note:
Refer to ArcGIS Drone2Map: Calculating the Reflectance Factor to calculate the reflectance factor for each band using the Radiometric Calibration function.

The image below shows the panel reflectance factors for each band successfully calculated in ArcGIS Drone2Map.
