Description
In ArcGIS Online, when attempting to enable a web map for ArcGIS Collector use on the Web Map tab on its item details page, the 'Use in ArcGIS Collector' option is unavailable, as shown in the image below.
Cause
This issue occurs when one of the following requirements are not met:
- The web map must contain at least one editable hosted feature layer.
- The web map must be re-saved after enabling editing of the hosted feature layer. This is expected behavior. Refer to BUG-000120570 and BUG-000128279 for more information.
- The layers in the map must be hosted in ArcGIS Online. Editing capabilities are not supported for non-hosted feature layers.
- When publishing the layer from ArcGIS Pro, the editing capabilities must be enabled on the Configuration tab.
Solution or Workaround
Use one of the following options to resolve the issue.
Add an editable hosted feature layer to the web map
- Log in to ArcGIS Online. Navigate to Content > My Content.
- On the My Content tab, browse to the web map, click More Options , and select Open in Map Viewer.
- In Map Viewer, on the Layers tab, in the Layers pane, click Add layer.
- In the Add layer pane, under My Content, search for or browse to the editing-enabled hosted feature layer, and click Add.
- On the left panel, click Save > Save to save the web map.
Re-save the web map after enabling editing of the hosted feature layer
Re-save the web map after enabling editing of the hosted feature layer to update its editing capabilities in the map. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Save maps (Map Viewer) or ArcGIS Online: Save maps (Map Viewer Classic) for more information.
Note:
Alternatively, add the editing-enabled hosted feature layer to a new web map. Follow Steps 1 through Step 5 above to do so.
Save and publish the feature layer as a hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online
In Map Viewer Classic, save and publish the feature layer as a hosted feature layer to enable its editing capabilities.
- In Map Viewer Classic, in the Contents pane, browse to the feature layer, click More Options , and select Save Layer.
- In the Create Item window, specify the Title and Tags fields. Click CREATE ITEM.
- In the Contents pane, browse to the layer, and click Remove.
- Click Save > Save to save the map.
- In the upper-left corner, click the Home drop-down button, and select Content.
- Publish the feature layer as a hosted feature layer, and enable its editing capabilities.
- On the Content page, on the My Content tab, browse to the feature layer, click More Options , and select View item details.
- On the item details page, click Publish.
- In the Publish window, specify the Title and Tags fields, and click Publish.
- On the hosted feature layer’s item details page, click Settings, in the Feature Layer (hosted) section, check the Enable editing. check box, and click Save.
- Click Content > My Content.
- Browse to the web map, click More Options , and select Open in Map Viewer Classic.
- In Map Viewer Classic, on the top panel, click Add > Search for Layers.
- In the My Content pane, browse to the hosted feature layer, and click Add to add it to the web map.
- Click Save > Save to save the map.
Enable editing capabilities for the layer on the Configuration tab in ArcGIS Pro
When publishing a web layer in ArcGIS Pro, enable editing of the layer on the Configuration tab before publishing it to ArcGIS Online.
- Open the ArcGIS Pro project containing the layer, and log in to ArcGIS Online.
- In the Share As Web Layer window, on the Configuration tab, check the Enable editing and allow editors to: check box. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Configure a web feature layer for more information.
- Click Publish.
- Log in to ArcGIS Online with the same credentials as ArcGIS Pro, click Content > My Content.
- On the My Content page, browse to the hosted feature layer, click More Options , and select Add to new map.
- In Map Viewer Classic, click Save > Save to save the map. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Save maps (Map Viewer Classic) for more information.
Clear the web browser's cache
Clear the browsing history and cache on the machine to ensure a seamless web browser performance.
