Description
Running analysis tools on feature layers or hosted feature layers in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer Classic loads indefinitely and in some cases, an invalid output is created.
Cause
- The spatial index of the hosted feature layer is not properly rebuilt when published to ArcGIS Online.
- Feature layers created using a CSV or TXT file are incorrectly formatted. Refer to ArcGIS Online: CSV and TXT files for information on formatting CSV or TXT files before adding the files as layers in Map Viewer Classic.
- The analysis cannot be completed due to insufficient credits to run analysis tools. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Understand credits for more information.
Solution or Workaround
Use one of the following workarounds to resolve the issue.
Repair the spatial index of the layers
- In ArcGIS Online, navigate to the Content tab.
- Click the hosted feature layer to open the hosted feature layer's item page.
- On the Settings tab, check the Enable Editing option.
- Click Rebuild Indexes under the Manage Spatial Indexes section.
- Check the feature layers checkboxes to rebuild spatial indexes for the layers, and click Rebuild.
Publish the feature layers as a hosted feature layer
If the feature layer is used to run an analysis, an alternative is to publish the feature layer as a hosted feature layer before running the analysis tools on the layers in Map Viewer Classic. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Publish hosted feature layers for steps and more information.
