HOW TO
ArcGIS Field Maps is designed to be used on-site, as the application is available on mobile devices. When visiting a site location, often there are illustrations or site plans useful for visual representation when used as a basemap. However, ArcGIS Fields Maps has a limited selection of basemaps and does not have the functionality to use images as basemaps.
As an alternative, ArcGIS Field Maps is able to use a web map from ArcGIS Online with a basemap layer created from a tile layer. This article highlights the workflow on how to prepare and use an image as a basemap in ArcGIS Field Maps.
The image below shows the web map containing the georeferenced image as the basemap in ArcGIS Field Maps.
Note: Alternatively, load custom basemaps into the application without publishing the basemaps to ArcGIS Online. Refer to ArcGIS Field Maps: Configure the mobile app for instructions.
