Prepare Business Analyst ArcMap custom report templates for editing in ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro

Last Published: November 28, 2023

Summary

ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro 3.2 (November 2023 release) introduced a new capability to create and edit report templates. Report templates, known as Fusion report templates, and custom data, known as Business Analyst data source (BDS), created in ArcGIS Business Analyst ArcMap can be edited in the ArcGIS Pro classic report editor, but must first be converted to reference Statistical Data Collection (SDCX) custom data in ArcGIS Pro.

Procedure

ArcMap Fusion report templates must be converted to reference SDCX files using a Python tool workflow (TemplateConverter.pyt). ArcMap BDS files must be converted to ArcGIS Pro SDCX files using an ArcGIS Pro workflow. Follow these instructions to convert report templates and data.

Download and set up the Template Converter Python Tool

  1. Download TemplateConverter_SampleTool_v1.zip by clicking this link and save the file to a location on your local machine.
  2. Unzip TemplateConverter_SampleTool_v1.zip. The ZIP file contains these three files.
    • TemplateConverter.pyt.xml (XML Document)
    • TemplateConverter.TemplateConverter.pyt.xml (XML Document)
    • TemplateConverter.pyt (ArcGIS Python Toolbox)

TemplateConverter.pyt.xml, TemplateConverter.TemplateConverter.pyt.xml, and TemplateConverter.pyt displayed in a file explorer.

  3. Click New Statistical Data Collection and click Import Legacy Data (BDS).

The report template is converted to reference the SDCX files. The report template can now be edited in the ArcGIS Business Analyst Pro classic report editor.
