composite relationship

  1. [data management] A link or association between objects in which the lifetime of one object controls the lifetime of its related objects, often used in geodatabase tables. For example, the association between a building (origin) and its mailbox (destination) is a composite relationship; while the building can exist on its own, the mailbox cannot.
