  1. [GPS] A global satellite constellation that collects, processes, and shares environmental data from fixed and mobile platforms. Argos was developed as a joint project by the French space agency, Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES), and two United States agencies: the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
