The tool is not licensed

Error Message

When attempting to create a globe cache in ArcCatalog for an ArcGIS Server globe service using the Manage Globe Server Cache Tiles tool, the following error message is returned:

The tool is not licensed.

Cause

The 3D Analyst extension is not licensed or enabled in ArcCatalog.

Solution or Workaround

To successfully create a globe cache, the 3D Analyst extension is required for ArcGIS Desktop. The extension must be available and enabled in ArcCatalog. To do this, follow the steps outlined below:

1. Check if the 3D Analyst extension is licensed and available via ArcGIS Administrator. Launch ArcGIS Administrator. Select the Availability folder.

2. Enable the extension in ArcCatalog. In ArcCatalog, navigate to Customize > Extensions. Ensure 3D Analyst is checked.
