The Export Data option of an ArcGIS Server feature layer is unavailable in Portal for ArcGIS

Description

In Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server feature layers are also known as referenced layers or registered layers. When attempting to export an ArcGIS Server feature layer from the layer's item details page, the Export Data option is unavailable.

Cause

This is by designed for an ArcGIS Server feature layer as it is stored in the ArcGIS Server of the ArcGIS Enterprise deployment. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: ArcGIS Server feature layers for more information.

Solution or Workaround

As a workaround, export the ArcGIS Server feature layer using the Extract Data tool in Portal for ArcGIS Map Viewer Classic.

Note:
Ensure the Export Data and Enable Sync options are enabled when publishing the feature layer from ArcGIS Pro. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Configure a web feature layer for more information.
  1. Log in to Portal for ArcGIS. Click Content > My Content.
  2. Browse to the ArcGIS Server feature layer, click More Options The More Options icon., and select Open in Map Viewer Classic.
  3. In Map Viewer Classic, in the Content pane, browse to the ArcGIS Server feature layer and click Perform Analysis The Perform Analysis icon..
  4. In the Perform Analysis pane, click Manage Data and select Extract Data.
  5. In the Extract Data pane, under Layers to extract, ensure the ArcGIS Server feature layer is checked.
  6. Under Study area, select the boundary for the exported data. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Usage notes for more information.
  7. Select the preferred format for the exported data from the Output data format drop-down list. In this example, File Geodatabase (.zip) is selected.
  8. Specify the name and location of the exported data under Output file name.
  9. Click RUN ANALYSIS. The exported data is automatically added to the Content page in Portal for ArcGIS.
