PROBLEM
After publishing a feature layer from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online, subscripts or superscripts display correctly in the attribute table and pop-ups but are not visible in labels within Map Viewer in ArcGIS Online. The image below shows the subscript not displayed in the label on the map.
This is by design. Some fonts in ArcGIS Online support only a limited set of Unicode characters and do not support subscript or superscript formatting.
To ensure subscripts or superscripts are displayed correctly, switch the label style font in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer to one of the fonts listed below. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Customize the label style for instructions and more information on label styling.
Note: The only font compatible with both platforms that provides adequate Unicode support is Palatino Linotype (Regular). Use this font to ensure consistent label rendering between ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
The image below shows the label with subscripts displayed correctly using a supported font, which is compatible with ArcGIS Online Map Viewer.
