Labels do not display correctly in ArcGIS Dashboards

Description

In ArcGIS Dashboards, the labels in the map display incorrectly compared to the labels displayed in the web map in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer.

Cause

  • There are multiple feature layers turned on for labeling in the web map in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer.
  • A date field is used for the labeling in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer.

Solution or Workaround

Choose one of the options below depending on the cause to resolve the issue.

Toggle off labeling for other feature layers

  1. In ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, open the map containing the feature layers.
  2. On the Contents toolbar on the left side, click Layers.

  1. In the Layers pane, select the layer to be excluded from labeling.
  2. On the Settings toolbar on the right side, click Labels.

  1. In the Label features pane, toggle off Enable labels.

  1. Repeat steps 3 to 5 in other layers if needed.
  2. Save the web map.
  3. On the Contents toolbar on the left side, click More > Create app.

  1. Select Dashboards to create a new dashboard or refresh the existing dashboard in ArcGIS Dashboards.

Populate the date field values in a new field

  1. Log in to the ArcGIS Online organizational account.
  2. Click Content, and click the My Content tab. Select the hosted feature layer to open the item details page.
  3. On the layer’s item page, click the Data tab.
  4. Add a new string field in the Table or Fields view. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Add or delete a field for steps to do so.

  1. Click the column of the newly created field, and select Calculate.
  2. In the Calculate Field window, select SQL.
  3. Select Date under Fields, and click the original date field. Click Calculate.

  1. Open the layer in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, and set the new field for labeling. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Configure labels (Map Viewer) for steps to do so.
  2. On the Contents toolbar on the left side, click More > Create app.
  3. Select Dashboards to create a new dashboard in ArcGIS Dashboards.
