HOW TO

Merge multiple Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) surfaces

Last Published: October 1, 2025

Summary

Sometimes it is necessary to combine two or more Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) surfaces together into a single TIN. There is no single geoprocessing tool that does this. However this can be done with the following workflow, using the TIN Node and Create TIN geoprocessing tools in combination.

Procedure

  1. Convert each of the TINs to be merged to point features using the TIN Node tool.

  2. Use the point features created in Step 1 as input to create a new TIN using the Create TIN tool.
