Display feature information using a mouse hover in ArcGIS Instant Apps

Summary

In ArcGIS Instant Apps, displaying feature information using a mouse hover can be accomplished using hover pop-ups in the 3D Viewer, Media Map, Sidebar, or Slider app templates, which is useful for displaying feature information without a mouse click. This article provides the workflow to display feature information using a mouse hover in ArcGIS Instant Apps in the 3D Viewer, Media Map, Sidebar, and Slider app templates.

Procedure

In the 3D Viewer app

Enable hover pop-ups in the 3D Viewer app to display the feature information in a pop-up window when hovering over a feature on the 3D scene.

  1. Sign in to ArcGIS Online, and create an Instant App with the 3D Viewer template. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Choose an app template for more information.
  2. In the Scene settings on the side panel, click Select a scene to add a web scene to the 3D Viewer app.
  3. Click Next to open the About settings on the side panel.
  4. Toggle Enable hover pop-up on.

Note:
Alternatively, click Search settings on the side panel, search for and click Enable hover pop-up.

  1. Click Publish.

In the Media Map app

Enable hover pop-ups in the Media Map app to display the feature information in a pop-up window when hovering over a feature on the map.

  1. Sign in to ArcGIS Online, and create an Instant App with the Media Map template. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Choose an app template for more information.
  2. In the Map settings on the side panel, click Select a map to add a map to the Media Map app.
  3. Click Next to open the About settings on the side panel.
  4. Toggle Enable hover pop-up on.

Note:
Alternatively, click Search settings on the side panel, search for and click Enable hover pop-up.

  1. Click Publish.

In the Sidebar app

Enable hover pop-ups in the Sidebar app to display the feature information in a side panel when hovering over a feature on the map.

  1. Sign in to ArcGIS Online, and create an Instant App with the Sidebar template. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Choose an app template for more information.
  2. On the side panel, toggle Express off to use the full setup mode.
Note:
By default, the express setup mode is activated. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Express and full setup modes for more information.
  1. In the Turn off express mode window, click Continue.

  1. On the side panel, click Interactivity > Explore/navigate.
  2. Toggle Enable hover pop-up on.

In the Slider app

Enable hover pop-ups in the Slider app to display the feature information in a pop-up window when hovering over a feature on the map.

  1. Sign in to ArcGIS Online, and create an Instant App with the Slider template. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Choose an app template for more information.
  2. On the side panel, toggle Express off to use the full setup mode.
Note:
By default, the express setup mode is activated. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Express and full setup modes for more information.
  1. In the Turn off express mode window, click Continue.

  1. On the side panel, click About > Location details.
