Frequently asked question

Can features and graphics be selected simultaneously in ArcGIS Pro?

Last Published: April 14, 2025

No. It is not possible to select both features and graphics elements simultaneously in ArcGIS Pro. Graphic element selection tools work independently from the feature selection tools on the Edit tab. Graphic elements cannot be selected using feature selection tools, and vice versa. For more information, refer to ArcGIS Pro: Select graphic elements and ArcGIS Pro: Select features. As an alternative, convert the graphics layer to a feature layer.

  1. Open the ArcGIS Pro project.
  2. Convert the graphics layer into a feature layer using the Graphics To Features tool.
    1. On the Analysis tab, in the Geoprocessing group, click Tools.
    2. In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and click Graphics To Features.
    3. In the Graphics To Features pane, for Input Graphics, select the graphics layer from the drop-down list.
    4. For the Graphics Type, select the type of graphic element from the drop-down list to be converted.
    5. For the Output Feature Class, specify a location.
    6. Optionally, check the Delete graphics after conversion check box to delete the graphic elements from the graphics layer after the conversion.
    7. Click Run.
  3. Select the features that intersect the converted graphic element using the Select by Location tool, refer to ArcGIS Pro: Select features by location.
