Frequently asked question
No, it is not possible to directly export a hosted feature layer as a computer-aided design (CAD) file in ArcGIS Online.
CAD files are used in a variety of industries, such as architecture, engineering, and manufacturing. These files allow professionals to create, modify, and analyze models and designs efficiently. Exporting a hosted feature layer as a CAD file enables the data to be used with CAD software while retaining spatial information. In ArcGIS Online, the owner or the organization's administrator can export the hosted feature layer in a different format and configure the data export. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Allow data exports for more information. This ability provides greater flexibility when working with and sharing data with others. However, there is currently no option to export a hosted feature layer to a CAD format, which is a known limitation.
In ArcGIS Online, it is possible to export the hosted feature layer as a shapefile or a file geodatabase, both of which are supported by ArcGIS Pro. The data can then be exported as a CAD file in ArcGIS Pro using the Export to CAD geoprocessing tool. This can be done through the following steps.
