Export a feature service to a file geodatabase feature class in ArcMap

Last Published: April 26, 2020

Data from a feature service can be extracted to ArcGIS for Desktop, Excel, and other products. The extracted data can be edited in ArcGIS for Desktop for analysis. Additionally, the data can be exported to many types of files such as CSV, shapefile, feature collection and file geodatabase.

The instructions provided describe how to export a feature service to a file geodatabase feature class in ArcMap.

1. Start ArcMap.
2. Sign into ArcGIS Online by navigating to File > Sign In.
3. Click the Add Data button, and select Add Data From ArcGIS Online.
This opens the ArcGIS online window.

4. Search for the feature service, and click Add to add the data to the map. A layer is added in the Table Of Contents.
5. Right-click the layer in the Table Of Contents > Data > Export Data.
6. Click Browse, and provide a name for the data.
7. Select 'File and Personal Geodatabase feature classes' as the file type.
8. While navigating, ensure the output location is within a File or Personal Geodatabase, and click Save.
9. Click OK. The data is exported as a file geodatabase feature class.

The data can be exported to a file geodatabase through ArcGIS Online. For more information on exporting data from a hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online, refer to the following ArcGIS Web Help topic: Use hosted web layers.
