PROBLEM
ArcGIS Server Manager fails to open if the installation path includes multi-byte characters
Description
After installing ArcGIS for Server, the ArcGIS Server Manager application fails to open successfully. The Services Directory and Administrator Directory applications also fail to open.
Attempting to start the ArcGIS Server service from the Windows Services Panel fails with the following error:
"Windows could not start the ArcGIS Server service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."
Cause
This occurs when installing ArcGIS for Server to an installation location containing multi-byte characters in the path, and results in the ArcGIS Server Windows service being unable to start.
Solution or Workaround
Uninstall ArcGIS for Server and re-install to a location that does not contain multi-byte characters.Article ID: 000011603
