Acronym for Wide Area Augmentation System. A regional satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) used to augment GPS, with the goal to improve its accuracy, integrity, and availability. This system was developed and is operated by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for use in North American airspace.
