HOW TO

Adjust 'Maximum Number of Records Returned per Request' for a Mosaic Dataset Image Service

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to change the maximum number of records returned per request for a mosaic dataset image.

By default, a mosaic dataset published to ArcGIS Server as an Image Service will have 'Maximum Number of Records Returned per Request' set to 1000. By accessing the Image Service properties within ArcMap or ArcCatalog, this value cannot be increased above 1000 until it is increased on the default catalog properties of the mosaic dataset.

Procedure

  1. From ArcCatalog or the Catalog tab in ArcMap, browse to the existing mosaic dataset. Right-click it, and click Properties.
  2. Click the Defaults tab.
  3. Scroll down to the Catalog Properties section and adjust the 'Maximum Number of Records Returned per Request' as desired.
  4. Click OK to save the changes.
  5. While still in ArcCatalog or the Catalog tab in ArcMap, scroll down and expand GIS Servers. Expand the GIS server where the Image Service is published.

    Note:
A Manage or Admin connection to the GIS Server must be established in order to make any changes to the Image Service.

  6. Right-click the Image Service and click Stop.
  7. Right-click the stopped Image Service and click Service Properties. On the Parameters tab, click the Catalog tab and adjust the 'Maximum Number of Records Returned per Request' to match the changes made previously.
  8. Click OK to save the changes and restart the Image Service.
