HOW TO

Identify the expiry date of the ArcGIS Server keycode using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

Last Published: March 17, 2023

Summary

When authorizing an enterprise geodatabase on a SQL Server instance, a keycodes file is required to complete the authorization process. The keycodes file is created when ArcGIS Server is authorized and by default can be found in the following folder location:

\\Program Files\Esri\License10.x\sysgen

Similar to the authorization file for ArcGIS Server licensing, the keycode can also expire. This article describes how to identify the expiry date of a keycode using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

Procedure

  1. Start Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Connect to the SQL Server instance that contains the concerned enterprise geodatabase.
Connecting to database engine
  1. Expand the Databases folder and expand the concerned database. In this example, TestSQL is expanded.
  2. Expand the Tables folder. Scroll down and locate the dbo.SDE.server_config table.
Tables folder in the database
  1. Right-click the table and click Select Top 1000 Rows to open the table.
Select top 1000 Rows option on the dbo.SDE_server_config table
  1. Locate the AUTH_KEY parameter in the prop_name column. The expiry date can be identified in the char_prop_value column as shown in the following sample image.
