Description
ArcMap crashes or stops responding when geocoding a table with 1 million records using the USA and USA_ZIP4 address locators from StreetMap Premium North America NAVTEQ 2014 Release 1.There are two bugs associated with this behavior, resulting in the following problems:
• BUG-000082007: When using the Geocode Addresses tool, the tool stops responding and returns the following error:
"ERROR 999998: Unexpected Error.
Failed to execute (GeocodeAddresses)."
• BUG-000082003: When geocoding from the Table of Contents in ArcMap, ArcMap crashes.
Note:
The behavior does not occur at version 10.2.2 or with smaller tables.
Cause
The cause is unknown.Workaround
- In either ArcMap or ArcCatalog, enable background processing from the Geoprocessing menu > Geoprocessing Options.
- Launch the Geocode Addresses tool from ArcToolbox > Geocoding Toolbox to geocode the table with the USA or USA_ZIP4 composite address locator.
