Unable to batch divide polygons using the Divide tool in ArcGIS ModelBuilder

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, the Divide tool allows dividing a selected polygon into several features with a specified width or area. However, it is not possible to automate the Divide tool operation using ArcGIS ModelBuilder to batch divide polygons in ArcGIS Pro. The image below demonstrates a road layer consisting of multiple polygons on the map.

Cause

The Divide tool from the Modify Features pane is unavailable in the tool selection of ModelBuilder as only geoprocessing tools can be added to a geoprocessing model.

Solution or Workaround

If the operation only requires dividing the polygons into equal parts or areas, use the Subdivide Polygon tool to batch divide the polygons in ArcGIS Pro, as described in the steps below.

1. In ArcGIS Pro, click the Analysis tab, and click Tools.
2. In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and select the Subdivide Polygon (Data Management) tool via the Find Tools search box.
3. In the Subdivide Polygon geoprocessing pane, select the polygon layer from the Input Features drop-down list.
4. Specify a name for the new feature class in the Output Feature Class parameter.
5. Select a division method from the Subdivision Method drop-down list. Depending on the method selected, configure the Number of Areas or Target Area parameter. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Parameters for more information.
6. Click Run.
